War Workers
1942
Serigraph
13” in 15 ½ plate
Although it is not well recognized, children played an important role throughout world war II. While many of their fathers were off fighting, the children of these soldiers would take on mature roles that were essential to the development and maintenance of the Eastern Shore community. Children would humbly devote their time, education and energy to taking on the physical tasks of their deployed black fathers and friends. This serigraph emphasizes the strong and sophisticated character of these children as well as their essential place in history.
