Pencil and charcoal on yellow trace
18” x 24”
Well drafted pencil sketches show groupings of people from Copperville organized around the figure of a plump whale with an open mouth. In its jaws is a member of the congregation, kneeling comfortably, smiling with hands clasped in prayer. The study is playful, and at the same time skilled in its use of perspective and geometric ordering.
