Pencil and charcoal study on artist’s paper
17 ¾” x 24”
In the study Singer and Orchestra, a tall confident man stands before an orchestra pit singing. The audience is enjoying themselves, and there appears to be a public building in the background, possibly a monument in Washington, D.C. Smaller thumbnail studies in the right-hand margin of the study illustrate the artist’s struggle to portray the singer in a dignified manner.
